NOTICE: (Effective December 14, 2020)
- To achieve the required social distancing in the lobby, Montgomery County registration renewals will only be processed online, in our drive-thru, or by mail. All other transactions may be processed inside the office.
- Placards may be renewed by mail or in our drive-thru.

Month
Expiration |
When your plate is issued, the month
of expiration is affixed to the plate. Your registration will expire on
the last day of this month.

Year Expiration
|
The expiration year is affixed to the top
right corner of the plate. The current validation and
wheel tax decals are affixed over the previous years.
The decal will go on top of the last expiration year. Both your State
and County fees are included in the same registration.

County Name
|
The County name strip is placed on
each plate issued in Montgomery County.

Wheel Tax
|
If the plate was purchased
through a dealership in another County, you are required to purchase the
Montgomery County Wheel Tax through our office.

Disabled Veteran Wheel Tax Exemption
Per TCA 5-8-102, any disabled veteran who has one hundred percent (100%) permanent total disability is exempt from
the motor vehicle privilege tax (wheel tax) upon submission of evidence of such disability. Proof of a 100% rating
(i.e., signed VA letter) must be submitted at time of application. No refunds will be issued after application has
been processed.
